TUSCALOOSA, Ala.– Even with going through the situation of trying to have point guard Collin Sexton reinstated, Alabama men’s basketball head coach Avery Johnson is still moving on the recruiting trail.

Earlier today, the Crimson Tide landed a verbal commitment from three-star shooting guard Diante Wood for its 2018 signing class. Wood, a native of Anniston, Ala., is a product of Sacred Heart Catholic School. After decided on Alabama, he became the third of six top targets to commit to the program – joining four-star Jared Butler and three-star Javian Fleming.

The 6-foot-4, 190-pounder had offers from eight other schools, with Auburn and Arkansas joining the Crimson Tide as the third Southeastern Conference institution to approach him.

While it awaits the responses of Will Richardson, Khavon Moore and Robert Woodard, Johnson and assistant coach Antoine Pettway took to Twitter to express their excitement in getting Wood.

Following its 74-65 win over University of Alabama at Huntsville in Monday’s exhibition matchup at Coleman Coliseum, Alabama will travel to Maryland on Friday to open the Veterans Classic against Memphis at 5:30 p.m. (CT) via CBS Sports Network.
