Avery Johnson Grabs Transfer Commitment from Tevin Mack

Joe Habshey - Bama Hoops Hype

After making multiple coaching adjustments this week, Avery Johnson snagged a commitment from sophomore transfer, Tevin Mack. The 6-7 wing from Texas led the Longhorns in scoring up until being suspended by head coach Shaka Smart for violating team rules.

In the 15 games he played last year, he averaged almost 15 points and 5 rebounds in just over 31 minutes per-game. His shooting splits were a thing of beauty, too.

He shot 45.9% from the field and 39.5% from the three-point line last season, but he will, however, need to work on his free-throw shooting after making just 58.8% from the stripe.

While he has two years of eligibility remaining, he will have to sit out the 2017-18 season to as part of the NCAA’s transfer rules.

If Braxton Key chooses to return to the Tide this year, and enter the NBA Draft next year instead, Mack would be a tremendous contender to replace him in the lineup as a high-scoring Forward.

Avery Johnson is absolutely on fire in the recruiting world right now, and here’s to hoping nobody puts him out.
