Ar’Mond Davis Latest to Announce Transfer from Alabama

Marvin Gentry-USA TODAY Sports

Ar’Mond Davis announced his plans to transfer from the Alabama men’s basketball program. He posted a message to his fans on Twitter on Tuesday afternoon.

Davis transferred from Southern Idaho Junior College to Alabama for the 2016-17 season. He finished sixth on the team with 6.0 points per game in just 13.8 minutes per game. He shot 81.8 percent from the free throw line, which was the highest of any Alabama player with at least 10 attempts.

Davis was recruited for his shooting ability and he showed his skills pretty quickly. He shot just 32 of 120 from beyond the arc but Davis had his moments throughout the season. The junior had a season-high 19 points in the Tide’s regular season victory at South Carolina.

In his only season in Tuscaloosa, Davis had the highest usage rate of anyone on the team according to Sports Reference. That often meant Davis would be shooting the ball, finishing the season with just four assists.

Whether it’s his ability to slash to the hole or his deep shooting threat, Davis will be missed next season. It may become an issue of depth for the Crimson Tide but this may end up allowing room for a new graduate transfer to come to Avery Johnson’s program.
